  • Bees Are On The Move. And People Are Freaking Out For No Reason.

Here is the quick lecture for those unaware folks who have been living in rural area in close proximity to the wild nature, yet fail to observe, understand and connect with it. Message to humans: Don't be dangerous destructors !!! The sight of swarming bees can certainly unnerve some people. However, it is a very natural and wonderful part of the life cycle of honey bees. After bee colony has survived a cool winter, as the weather warms up, the colony expands. More workers are produced. When the crowd is so great, that not all of the workers have access to the queen, this induces within these workers the need to create a new honey bee queen. However, there is no space in the colony for more than one queen. https://www.facebook.com/myketopal.comfortketo/videos/414040028974440 (click this link to view the video) Before the new queen emerges, the old queen takes off with part of the colony to establish a new nest. You see, the whole activity revolves around the queen whose well-being will be key to the success of the migrating colony. During their quest of finding a new home location, they will occasionally pass through a town, village or a small human settlement. And their journey can sometimes take several days and cover several hundred miles. Once the swarm has left its old nest or hive, this is when we might see a whirling mass of swarming bees in the air, or a bee swarm settled on the branch of a tree (or possibly somewhere not so convenient like between our neighbors' mailboxes!). It is important to keep your distance from swarming bees, because if the bees feel threatened, then it is possible they will sting. The queen is not the strongest of flyers, and so inevitably will need to rest regularly – at some point on a branch, fence or a mailbox. That's when the whole pack huddles around the queen (to protect her) and wait until she is rested enough to continue the migration. The reason a bee swarm looks like a clump of bees, is because all of the workers are gathered around the queen, hence forming a clump. Meanwhile, ‘Scout bees’ are sent out to look for a suitable new location for the new hive. People report groups of aggressive bees flying around. And even call animal control for nothing. This is nothing but utter non-sense. These erratically flying small groups of bees are the scout bees scanning the area for suitable new homestead location. They are focused on finding a new nest, not on attacking. And don't worry, the location they will pick won't be where human's live. They don't need human disturbance. As soon as they find the right location, these scouts will lead the whole pack to the right site to settle down and build the new hive. As long as "you" do not disturb them, they will be gone in half a day or one day latest. None of them are interested in you or any other human for that matter. A swarm may stay around for a few days, depending on how quickly the scout bees find a suitable new home. This could happen very quickly, even within a day. A FEW LAST MOMENT ADVICE: Show no FEAR around bees. They can sense cortisol! Do not wear floral perfumes around bees. They will think that you are a good source for honey! And please leave them alone. Chef J9 (Chef Janine)

  • How Do You Like Your Juicy Sirloin Steaks Hot Off A 3D Printer?

Things are getting weirder every passing day. Faux meat will soon be on the menu at steak houses and other restaurants this year. After securing $29 million funding, an Israeli start-up, Redefine Meat Ltd. is now ready to target steak houses and other restaurants worldwide with its 3D-printed facsimiles of beef cuts, from fillet to rump and brisket. The company wants to change the "belief" that delicious meat can only come from animals. We wonder, where else can meat come from? What kind of craziness is it, that whatever is printed on a 3D printer can be called "meat"? Food giants like Nestle and McDonald’s Corp. along with multi billion dollars venture-capital investors call this charlatanry (charlatan is a person or a company practicing quackery in order to obtain money, fame, or other advantages through deception) "alternative-protein" as the so-called environmental and health (???) concerns supposedly entice consumers to fake products like faux burgers or nuggets. While investment is flowing into fake meats, the producers of this quackery admit that more needs to be done to improve the taste of products and lower prices to compete with conventional meat. Redefine is trying to take plant-based products to the next level by giving diners the same sensory experience as eating prime beef. Meanwhile, other opportunist charlatans are popping up elsewhere. Israeli startup, Aleph Farms Ltd., unveiled the world’s first slaughter-free ribeye steak. Barcelona-based Novameat Tech plans to start selling 3D-printed vegan meat to restaurants in Europe this year as it raises funds for a production scale-up. 3D printers loaded with plant-based “ink” can print the meat countless times and deliver a complex layering of muscle and fat to recreate the right texture. We bet the ink cartridges are not that cheap.

At one point or another, like any one else, you felt stuck in a rut with feelings of laziness and fear. During these times it can be really hard to take a step back and wonder what’s happening in the body, as opposed to just the mind, but it’s the link between the two that can push us through it. Dopamine Is the Key Neurotransmitters have incredible power over how the body and mind function. Let's look at the chemical symphony happening in the body all the time. Dopamine is responsible for craving, motivation, and pursuit. Adrenaline relates to agitation and endurance. Serotonin helps us be grateful and feel good about what we have. And, acetylcholine can helps focus. You can react to the world around you and make positive changes by purposefully leveraging these inner reactions. In this Podcast, Dr. Andrew Huberman talks about opening the window into the body's own inner neurochemistry, training the nervous system, and confronting the body's inner real estate. • Start Your Weight Loss Journey NOW With These Two Simple Steps

First Things First: Drink Enough Water! Did you know that about 75% of the human body is composed of water? And did you know that if you ask most people what they would like to drink water would be on a last choice? Because your body is composed of about 75% of water, that means that it needs water to function optimally. This is one of the easiest tips to implement yet most people neglect it. If you just start drinking more water every day it will go a long way in speeding up you fat loss. Researchers in Germany have found that people who drank water had an increase in the amount of calories they burned per day. How Much Water Should You Drink? We suggest that you start with two glasses a day and then increase at your own pace until you reach ten glasses per day. We recommend that you follow this very simple water consumption formula: Determine your body weight in pounds, divide it by two and drink that many in ounces of water each day. For example, a 200 lbs person should drink 100 ounces of water each day. That is almost 2/3 of a gallon per day... Recommended product: This BPA free, reusable 100 oz water bottle with straw has "Daily Water Intake Tracker" marked on it. This bottle's time marker feature from 7 am to 7 pm will help you track your daily water intake. At the same time, it acts as a reminder, and works well helping you to adopt a healthy hydration habit. With this water bottle, you will surely meet your goal for drinking enough water throughout the day. Avoid Spiking Of Your Insulin Level You can eat lettuce and work-out all day long and never lose any weight if you don't balance your blood sugar and hormones, in particular INSULIN. But that's extremely challenging for the majority of people (as long as they are not in ketosis), because most folks living in the modern world are desperately addicted to sugar. The addiction to sugar is real and many experts tell that it is more difficult to quit sugar than smoking, alcoholism, or even addiction to "hard drugs." Some experts go even so far claiming that sugar is much more addicting than heroin. If you feel like you can't give up sweets, or you can't give up dessert, or you can't give up pizza, pasta or bread (these are broken down nearly instantly into sugar)... then you know exactly what I'm talking about. And if you think that's bad... it's actually even worse: Because it's now been proven that synthetic sweeteners that many people rely on to help them reduce sugar in their diets are actually worse for you. Studies after studies have shown that these zero-calorie synthetic sweeteners actually trigger chemical reactions in the body that cause you to produce more fat and gain more weight. But if you can get off the sugar roller-coaster, you will see instantaneous changes in your weight and in your physic. Here are 3 things that can help you lose weight now... When you consume foods that have sugar, high fructose corn syrup, maltose, or any of the other names used to disguise the word "sugar" on ingredient labels... or... when you eat white or refined starches like bread, pasta, rice, or potatoes... you cause your insulin levels to spike. The insulin spikes leave you feeling fatigued, depressed, and cause your body to store fat. They also cause your blood-sugar level to crash... which is why you immediately get cravings to eat more. A good number of people spend their whole day trapped in this cycle. Natural Sweetener With Zero Calories: Stevia The natural sweetener stevia leaf has no calories at all... yet is extremely sweet. Stevia is also quite a bit sweeter than sugar. Numerous studies on the safety of stevia show that, as a natural product, it is extremely safe and non-toxic. And it has been used in many cultures from Paraguay to Japan as a health-promoting herb. This miracle herb can used to sweeten anything from your morning coffee to candy as a healthful substitute for sugar.

  • Insulin, Brown Fat & Ketones With Benjamin Bikman, PhD

In this really good video, Dr. Ben Bikman shares his latest scientific findings between the ketogenic diet and brown adipose tissue activation. Connect with Dr. Ben Bikman ➢ https://bikmanlab.byu.edu ➢ http://www.insuliniq.com Key Takeaways 02:02 During PhD studies, he learned that insulin is the metabolic key. Now that he has his own lab, the relevance of insulin upon normal metabolic health is his area of study. 03:11 Insulin is needed to Grow Fat Cells. 03:35 Distortion of the Fat Cell 05:59 As we grow larger fat cells and we reach 150% of what is ideal for our bodies, we start making new fat cells. As someone loses weight, they will not reduce the number of fat cells. They shrink the size of their existing cells. 07:14 Triglycerides are Not Relevant to Insulin Resistance 09:34 Muscle is Our Biggest Glucose Sink 10:35 Insulin is a Factor in Inflammation 12:08 Exercise is Important, but Diet is Critical 13:45 Toxic Lipids Cause Mitochondrial Alterations 15:39 Brown Adipose Tissue and an Uncoupling Protein 18:39 When Brown Fat Cells are Exposed to Insulin, Their Metabolic Rate Will go Down by about Half. 19:38 When our White Fat is Exposed to Ketones, Our Fat Goes from Storing to Wasting. 20:34 The Evolutionary Benefit of Ketones Inducing Wasting: Perhaps the conversion of white fat into heat burning instigated by ketones was meant for heat production. Our bodies act protectively. Evolutionarily, ketogenic diets would be seasonal. 24:55 Cold Thermogenesis to Activate Brown Fat: Constant cold exposure, to the point where you are shivering, works to activate brown fat. Ice baths and genuine cold exposure does this as well. 27:31 You Can Alter Your Metabolic Rate 30:24 Benefits of Low Insulin 32:46 We Need Insulin: It is necessary for normal mitochondrial function. Eating a healthy low carb diet will give you enough insulin variability. We want to keep insulin normal. 25:16 Time Restricted Feeding and Fasting to Trigger Beiging 28:05 We are All Insulin Resistant First Thing in the Morning 39:01 The Effect of Protein and Carbs on Insulin: If you are insulin resistant, you will get a huge long lasting fat storage spike from eating something like a bagel, as opposed to the quick bump for someone who is insulin sensitive. 41:45 Speculation that Exogenous Ketones Turn to Fat when Insulin is high 46:34 Dr. Bikman’s Morning Routine 48:08 Dr. Bikman’s Favorite Exercise is the Deadlift 49:09 Dr. Bikman’s Desert Island Herb, Nutrient or Botanical: He would bring cow liver, which is packed with mitochondria. We do not adopt the mitochondria of the meat we eat, but we can get the building block components of the mitochondria. 51:06 Dr. Bikman’s Elevator Pitch: Stop emphasizing a high carbohydrate/low fat diet. 51:36 Don’t Worry about Gluconeogenesis
