One of them has gone bankrupt and filed for bankruptcy just 45 days ago. And insiders familiar with the matter are saying that systemic risks are rapidly growing for the food service retailer given that about 30% of franchisees are currently insolvent. 2,000 McDonald's restaurants may disappear from US cities by the end of 2023! Pressure from regulators, labor tensions and financial losses seems to force the fast food giant to sharply reduce its brick-and-mortar footprint this year as it faces a reckoning after years of mismanagement, according to the analysis. A new report released by Franchise Consulting Group in partnership with VF Franchise Consulting titled McDonald's Model in Dying Days – 30% of Franchisees Insolvent reveals that some really big risks are facing the world's biggest fast food chain. Analysts say that for the first time in over 40 years, the ranks of McDonald's franchisees are dwindling and hundreds of them are on the verge of bankruptcy. The report notes that management is struggling to justify higher fees and other charges to franchisees that are already coping with rising wages and the unrelenting climb in costs for ingredients and packaging, which have been eroding profits over the past few years. Franchisees operate 95% of McDonald's locations in the US and generate about 70% of revenue in the country. The National Owners Association estimates that McDonald's restaurants, on average, will generate less cash for a second straight year in 2023, and that will further complicate the situation of operators that aren't financially sound. In an emailed statement, McDonald's acknowledged that inflation has trimmed the profitability for franchisees last year, but executives argued that the higher operating costs were necessary to keep the company aligned with its long-term expansion goals. Note: Color alone is not always the best indicator of ripeness , as some avocado varieties retain their light-green skin even when ripe! The perfect avocado texture is silky smooth and the flavor is rich and nutty. How To Ripen Avocados To speed up the process of ripening avocados, place the fruit in a paper bag and store it at room temperature (65 F to 75 F) until ready to eat (usually two to five days). Including an apple or a kiwi fruit in the bag accelerates the process, because these fruits give off ethylene, a natural hormone that promotes ripening. When the avocados yield to gentle pressure, they are ready. Tip: The more apples or kiwi fruit you add, the quicker your avocados will ripen. Diet Soda: Is It Really a Healthier Choice? Don't be misled by the name. The term "diet soda" often creates the impression that it is a healthier alternative to regular soft drinks. While diet sodas contain little to no calories, they are typically sweetened with artificial sweeteners and are highly processed beverages. Emerging research has raised questions about their long-term effects on metabolic health, cardiovascular health, kidney function, and the gut microbiome. If you're reaching for a diet soda to cool off on a hot day, you may want to consider some of the concerns that have been associated with regular consumption. Heart Health Concerns Several observational studies have reported an association between frequent consumption of artificially sweetened beverages and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. One study conducted by researchers at Sweden's Karolinska Institute followed more than 42,000 men over a 12-year period and found that those who consumed two or more sweetened soft drinks daily had a significantly higher risk of developing heart failure. While the study did not distinguish between regular and diet sodas, it highlighted a potential link between frequent sweetened beverage consumption and cardiovascular health concerns. Kidney Failure Some research suggests that regular consumption of diet soda may be associated with declining kidney function, particularly among women. Simply reducing the consumption of artificially sweetened drinks or replacing them with unsweetened coffee may help lower the risk of depression. Artificial Sweeteners and Gut Health Your gut is home to trillions of bacteria. This complex ecosystem of microbes plays a vital role in maintaining overall health. However, when this delicate balance is disrupted, it may contribute to a variety of health problems. Research suggests that artificial sweeteners, such as those commonly found in diet soda, may negatively affect some of these beneficial bacteria. According to a study published in the journal Molecules, chemicals used in artificial sweeteners may harm the human gut microbiome. Researchers from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Ben-Gurion University, and the Volcani Center in Israel collaborated to examine the effects of six FDA-approved artificial sweeteners and 10 sports supplements containing these sweeteners on gut bacteria. The researchers found that each sweetener produced a unique pattern of bacterial damage. Their findings suggested several forms of harm, including DNA damage, protein damage, and alterations that may worsen the overall profile of the gut microbiome. Conclusion While diet soda contains few or no calories, it may not be the health-promoting beverage it is often perceived to be. Research continues to examine the potential effects of artificial sweeteners on metabolism, cardiovascular health, kidney function, mental health, and the gut microbiome. For most people, water remains the best choice for hydration. Unsweetened tea, sparkling water, black coffee, and other minimally processed beverages can also be excellent alternatives. The "National Emergency" Declaration gives special powers to the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA agency -such as nationwide lockdowns. The "Public Health Emergency" Declaration gives special powers to CDC -such as use of Remdesivir and ventilators as the only authorized treatments for Covid patients. On April 10, 2023, President Biden signed into law H.J.Res. 7, which terminated the national emergency related to the COVID-19 "pandemic." Below is the screen shot of the White House website regarding this new law. In January 2023, the White House announced that the public health emergency will also end on May 11, 2023. This is one week away now. The end of public health emergency will give the states the go-ahead to begin winding down the measures enacted under the emergencies. Well, as you all know, this Covid 19 related PHE was renewed repeatedly over the past three years. Bummer! Despite the end of the national emergency, the main stream media is still claiming that the fake Covid-19 plandemic is not over yet (we strongly disagree; it is over; this is purely our opinion), the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is still spreading (we strongly disagree), and new variants of the virus are still emerging (computer generated in the labs, LOL). This is an ever growing Pinocchio nose lie, in our opinion. We are firmly confident that all the current day health complications and sudden deaths are not as a result of the SARS-CoV-2, but are the side effects of the untested, useless and dangerous injections (they are actually not vaccines in classical medical sense.). You may disagree, but the fast growing numbers of myocarditis cases, blot clots, cancer, ... paint a clear picture. While the emergency use authorizations (EUAs) won’t end on May 11 (bummer, the big pharma is still protected!), here are a few things we think might be changing fairly quickly: 1. Vaccines, tests, and treatments will become less available. Good riddance! 2. Covid-19 vaccination, face masks, social distancing and other nonsensical requirements will essentially disappear. Good riddance! 3. We shall experience less and less main stream media driven "fake news" disguised as medical info on the SARS-CoV-2, new variants, and surges. Good for our collective psyche! 4. There will be less insurance coverage and less subsidies for the Covid-19 vaccines, tests, and treatments. More people might even lose their health insurance coverage. Consequently, Covid-19 treatment will get more expensive. One good side of this prediction is that in our opinion, less people will be forced to take the vaccines or exposed to kidney killer Remdesivir treatments! 5. As most healthcare workers are vaccinated, we shall experience service shortages. Healthcare will as a result become more expensive. 6. Research and other pandemic preparedness and response efforts will decrease. Good thing that our tax Dollars won't be wasted for fake "plandemics" any longer. Unfortunately ... 7. People with chronic illnesses due to ongoing metabolic challenges and compromised immune systems due to dangerous injections, will be considered as long Covid patients and will be left further behind. - Diabetic Rage: Can Diabetes Cause Aggressive Behavior?
Diabetic rage and aggressive behavior are real. Diabetes can be hard to live with. Frustration and irritability are common. These are normal human emotions, especially in the face of living with a serious and difficult disease like diabetes. There is a darker side to diabetes, though: diabetic rage. It’s frightening and dangerous. This look at diabetic rage and aggressive behavior can help you understand what’s happening to you or a loved one and learn what to do about it. Diabetic Rage: Why it Happens Two primary factors are responsible for diabetic rage and aggression: psychological and physiological. The psychological components of diabetic rage come from the stress of living with this disease. Feelings of frustration and resentment, a sense of “why me,” are common. Fear and uncertainty about health and lifestyle limitations can loom large. Then there’s the overwhelming nature of diabetes treatment and management that can create emotions ranging from annoyance to infuriation ("Does Diabetes Cause Mood Swings?"). Psychologically, perspective plays a big role in diabetic rage. The more a person remains stuck in the resentments and anger of having to live with diabetes, the more he or she is vulnerable to becoming aggressive. Mindset and stress contribute to diabetic rage and aggressive behavior, but they don’t work alone. Numerous physical functions underlie the violent nature of diabetes. The driving force behind diabetes-related problems in brain functioning is glucose. The brain needs proper levels of glucose (sugar) to operate. When blood sugar levels are above 140 mg/dL (hyperglycemia) or below 70 mg/dL (hypoglycemia), the brain suffers. Things can go wrong, too, when blood sugar levels spike and drop frequently. Incorrect or fluctuating glucose levels can cause damage and lead to such things as: Increased production and secretion of the stress hormone cortisol Depression Anxiety Damage to the amygdala (the structure responsible for cortisol secretion and the fight-or-flight response) Damage to the thalamus (the structure responsible for things like self-control) A decrease in the functioning of the blood vessels in the brain These psychological and physiological factors involved in rage and aggression are part of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Likewise, the behaviors apply to both types of diabetes. What Diabetic Rage and Aggressive Behavior are Like Feeling furious is normal. Problems arise when anger intensifies and is projected outward. Diabetic rage symptoms are intense and often frightening. While there are individual differences in the way people act when they’re enraged, watch for these general signs of diabetic rage: Delusional beliefs that someone is trying to hurt you, making you lose self-control and lash out Intensifying agitation Hitting or slapping Shoving Yelling Grabbing Threatening Belittling Intimidating Impulsivity Destruction Temper tantrums Diabetic rage can lead to violence against property and people. There are ways to deal with this diabetic rage to prevent it from recurring even though diabetes itself is permanent. What To Do About Diabetic Rage Dealing with diabetic rage involves immediate treatment to stop aggressive behavior and long-term management techniques to prevent future episodes. Because improper glucose levels are behind diabetic rages, it’s important to return blood sugar to the healthy range (between 70 mg/dL and 140 mg/dL). Testing blood sugar often will help you know when to treat your glucose levels. Once you test your blood sugar, you can take measures to return it to normal. This involves eating or drinking something to raise or lower your numbers. If you have hypoglycemia, have a bit of food with a high glycemic index (GI) such as sugar, sugar-sweetened drinks, or even glucose tablets. If you have hyperglycemia and need to lower your number, eat something with a low GI, such as a hard-boiled egg, or cheese. Treating your blood glucose levels in the moment will return your functioning to normal and decrease the hostile feelings and aggressive behavior. You can prevent future hostility by treating aggression and anger problems in general. Self-care is crucial. Following your diabetes treatment plan by monitoring your blood glucose, taking your medication, eating well, and exercising will help keep blood glucose levels stable and your temper even. Dealing with feelings of anger and resentment will help you feel more satisfied with life and less aggressive. Taking anger management classes or counseling, in person or online, will give you strategies to deal positively with anger. Support groups are helpful for many people trying to manage diabetic rage. Also, keeping a journal to track your angry feelings and aggressive behavior will help you see patterns, notice anger building, and take measures to reduce feelings of hostility. Developing a collection of calming strategies can help. Deep breathing, meditation, yoga, tai chi, drawing, coloring, or listening to or playing music can help induce calm and replace anger with engagement in a pleasant activity. Anger is indeed a natural psychological and physical response to diabetes. With awareness and treatment, diabetic rage and aggressive behavior can be treated and managed so they don’t hurt anyone. Clay that was published in 2013 by the American Psychological Association (APA), one of the nation's leading scientific organizations, representing more than 146,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants, and students. In fact, Dr. de la Monte and her colleagues coined the term "Type 3 Diabetes" to describe this phenomenon. In Type 2 diabetes, the body's cells gradually lose their ability to take up glucose from the bloodstream. This can occur because the pancreas produces insufficient insulin or because cells become resistant to insulin's signals—a condition known as insulin resistance. According to Dr. de la Monte, Alzheimer's disease involves a similar process, except that the insulin resistance occurs primarily within the brain. In a paper published in Current Alzheimer Research, Dr. de la Monte reviewed a growing body of evidence suggesting that Alzheimer's disease is fundamentally a metabolic disorder in which the brain's ability to utilize glucose and generate energy becomes impaired. In one study, she and her colleagues demonstrated that blocking insulin signaling to the brain resulted in Alzheimer's-like neurodegeneration in laboratory rats. Even more concerning, Dr. de la Monte noted that the compound used to block insulin activity in the experiment bears similarities to nitrites commonly found in many processed foods. According to her research, high-fat diets may further exacerbate the neurodegenerative effects associated with nitrite exposure. Dr. de la Monte also pointed out that age-adjusted trends in Alzheimer's disease and Type 2 diabetes show striking similarities. Since inherited forms of Alzheimer's account for only a minority of cases, the rapid increase in prevalence suggests that environmental and lifestyle factors may play a significant role. As she wrote, the evidence indicates that Alzheimer's disease "is a metabolic disease with virtually all of the features of diabetes mellitus, but largely confined to the brain." These findings underscore the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, says psychologist Margaret Gatz, PhD, whose own research has identified diabetes as a significant risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. "We know that if people observe good habits with respect to diet and exercise, it can make a difference in their risk of diabetes and, in turn, their risk of dementia," says Gatz, a professor of psychology, gerontology, and preventive medicine at the University of Southern California. "That's another reason psychologists should absolutely be encouraging good health behaviors and helping people make lifestyle changes." While Gatz agrees with the general premise of the research, she is less enthusiastic about labeling Alzheimer's disease as "Type 3 Diabetes." "I wouldn't want diabetes to be the only focus," says Gatz. Researchers continue to investigate numerous other factors that may influence Alzheimer's risk, including intellectual engagement, social interaction, cholesterol levels, physical activity, and other lifestyle behaviors. As Gatz explains, "We know that cholesterol, physical exercise and a panoply of other behavior changes could also affect the risk of dementia in later life." While researchers continue to debate the terminology, there is little disagreement that brain metabolism, insulin signaling, and lifestyle choices play important roles in cognitive health. This growing understanding is one reason ketogenic nutrition has attracted so much attention among Alzheimer's researchers. Dietary Ketosis Enhances Memory in Mild Cognitive Impairment One particularly interesting study examined whether a very low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet could improve memory and cognitive function in older adults with mild cognitive impairment—a condition often considered a precursor to Alzheimer's disease. Researchers randomly assigned 23 older adults to either a high-carbohydrate diet or a very low-carbohydrate diet for six weeks. At the end of the study, participants following the low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet demonstrated significantly improved verbal memory performance compared to those consuming a high-carbohydrate diet.
